Day 31 – casi

Day 31 – 16.45 miles

Cocktails and a sleeping pill induced coma really rejuvenated us.

Good day today. Lots of hills to keep it interesting.

The newbies from Sarria were all chatty and having a splendid time although starting to show signs of discomfort.

All of us who have been walking more than 30 days are quieter – focused.

2 more days!!!

Paige ~ Do you think 6 weeks is a good time frame? Four weeks seems very fast and tiring. I am determined to make the journey one day and my thought is to aim for 6 weeks. Also, for those of us who don’t relish the idea of staying in public dormitories/hostels, have you found private rooms along the way – if one were to pay for such privacy?

Everybody is so different. What works for one person might not work for another. It takes a few takes to figure out what works best.

Having predetermined hotels and backpacks delivered to the hotel (instead of carrying packs) seems to be popular for some and they were glad they did it.

We enjoyed the flexibility of carrying our own packs and judging how far we walked each day by how we felt.

The miles sound high by if you arrive at your destination at 1 or 2 each day there is a lot of down time – something to be weighed.

I do not recommend dorm living other than the experience. Having said that you only need to experience a dorm once to know private rooms are better. However, you will still hear all the noises in a private room – slamming of doors, toilets, showers and muted snores.

6 weeks is perfect – if you finish early you can go visit the rest of Spain!!!
