Photo of the Day 288

Travelled to Ballinasloe, Ireland today to see where my great grandfather lived. He left from this train station in 1911 to immigrate to America.

About Paige Shaw

Bitten by the wanderlust bug years ago - I have become an eyewitness to and documenter of the world’s divergent cultures (92 countries and counting). Photographing vistas that take my breath away, extraordinary architecture and connecting with everyday people doing everyday things. I am constantly reminded that a smile is the same in any language, that making a connection with something so simple is beautiful. Watching my photography transform from using a point and shoot in the old days to the new love of my life - the incredible Sony a7rii mirrorless camera - has inspired me to do more, take chances and seek out the unknown. I’m also a wife, mother, yogi, pilgrim, burner, skier, scuba diver and gypsy. “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” ― Pablo Picasso

We learned while we were at the train station today that Ballinasloe has the oldest fair in Europe. The Horse Fair dating back to the 18th century. We missed it this year by a week or so.
