Photo of the Day 47

Born 130 years ago, it spent 50 years announcing the presence of the Union Pacific Railroad passing through the Sierras. This was followed by a 30 year term at the base of Job’s Peak calling the ranch hands to dinner and supper. For the past 50 years it has poised expectantly in the Shaw yard(s) waiting for this photo op.

About Paige Shaw

Bitten by the wanderlust bug years ago - I have become an eyewitness to and documenter of the world’s divergent cultures (108 countries and counting). Photographing vistas that take my breath away and connecting with everyday people. Watching my photography transform over the years has inspired me to do more, take chances and seek out the unknown. I’m also a wife, mother, yogi, pilgrim, burner, skier, scuba diver and gypsy. “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” ― Pablo Picasso
